ప్రముఖ ఫిన్టెక్ కంపెనీ పేటీఎం మాతృసంస్థ అయిన ‘వన్ 97 కమ్మూనికేషన్’ (One 97 Communications)లో వందలాది మంది ఉద్యోగులను తొలగించింది. పేటీఎంలోని వివిధ విభాగాల్లో సుమారు 1,000 మందికిపైగా ఉద్యోగులను (employees) తొలగించింది. ఈ తొలగింపు ప్రభావం పేమెంట్స్, సేల్స్, ఆపరేషన్స్ వంటి విభాగాలపై పడింది. ఈ తొలగింపు మొత్తం వర్క్ఫోర్స్లో 10 శాతం మందిని ప్రభావితం చేయనుంది.
సిబ్బంది ఖర్చులను 15 శాతం మేర తగ్గించడంలో భాగంగా సంస్థ ఈ నిర్ణయం తీసుకున్నట్లు తెలిసింది. Paytm 2021లో 4,081 మంది ఉద్యోగులను కలిగి ఉంది, 2022లో 20,000 మంది మరియు 2023 మొదటి మూడు త్రైమాసికాల్లో 28,000 మంది ఉద్యోగులను కలిగి ఉంది. కాగా సేల్స్, AI ఇంటిగ్రేషన్లో 50,000 మందిని నియమించుకుంటున్నట్లు ప్రకటనల మధ్య, Paytm ఖర్చు తగ్గించడంలో భాగంగా 1,000 మంది ఉద్యోగులను తొలగించింది.

Paytm's parent company One97 Communications, said in a statement that with AI-led transformations, the company is aiming to save 10-15% in employee costs. It added this would result in a slight reduction in the workforce in operations and marketing.
