ఉపాధ్యాయురాలైన తన భార్యను విద్యార్థినుల ముందు భర్త అసభ్య పదజాలంతో దుర్భాషలాడడం మానసిక క్రూరత్వంతో సమానమని ఛత్తీస్గఢ్ హైకోర్టు ఇటీవల వ్యాఖ్యానించింది. ఇలాంటి దుర్వినియోగం సమాజంలో ఆమె ప్రతిష్టను దిగజార్చడమే కాకుండా హిందూ వివాహ చట్టం ప్రకారం మానసిక క్రూరత్వానికి పాల్పడుతుందని కోర్టు పేర్కొంది.
క్రూరత్వం కారణంగా తన భర్త నుంచి విడాకులు కోరుతూ ఓ మహిళ చేసిన పిటిషన్ను న్యాయమూర్తులు గౌతమ్ భాదురి, దీపక్ కుమార్ తివారీలతో కూడిన డివిజన్ బెంచ్ అనుమతించింది. రాయ్పూర్లోని ఫ్యామిలీ కోర్టు నవంబర్ 2021లో తన విడాకుల అభ్యర్థనను కొట్టివేసిన తీర్పును సవాలు చేస్తూ ఆమె దాఖలు చేసిన అప్పీల్ను విచారిస్తున్నప్పుడు కోర్టు ఈ పిటిషన్ను అనుమతించింది.
