అంతరిక్షం నుంచి అమితవేగంతో దూసుకొచ్చిన గ్రహశకలం భూమిని తాకింది. 70 సెంటీ మీటర్ల వ్యాసార్థం గల ఈ గ్రహ శకలం శాస్త్రవేత్తలు గుర్తించిన 12 గంటల్లోనే అత్యంత వేగంగా దూసుకొచ్చి రష్యాలోని ఓ గ్రామంలో పడిపోయింది. అయితే ఆ గ్రహశకలం చిన్నది కావడంతో ప్రాణాపాయం తప్పింది. రష్యాలోని మారుమూల ప్రాంతంలో పడడంతో ఎలాంటి నష్టం వాటిల్లలేదని శాస్త్రవేత్తలు తెలిపారు.
