దేశంలోనే అతి పొడవైన రైలు సొరంగం (T-50) అందుబాటులోకి వచ్చింది. జమ్మూ-కశ్మీర్లో ఉధంపుర్- శ్రీనగర్- బారాముల్లా రైల్ లింక్ (USBRL) ప్రాజెక్టులో భాగంగా నిర్మించిన బనిహాల్- ఖడీ- సుంబడ్- సంగల్దాన్ సెక్షన్ (48.1 కి.మీ.)ను ప్రధానమంత్రి నరేంద్ర మోదీ (Narendra Modi) మంగళవారం ప్రారంభించారు.
దేశంలోనే అతి పొడవైన రైలు సొరంగం (T-50) అందుబాటులోకి వచ్చింది. జమ్మూ-కశ్మీర్లో ఉధంపుర్- శ్రీనగర్- బారాముల్లా రైల్ లింక్ (USBRL) ప్రాజెక్టులో భాగంగా నిర్మించిన బనిహాల్- ఖడీ- సుంబడ్- సంగల్దాన్ సెక్షన్ (48.1 కి.మీ.)ను ప్రధానమంత్రి నరేంద్ర మోదీ (Narendra Modi) మంగళవారం ప్రారంభించారు. ఈ మార్గంలోనే ఖడీ- సుంబడ్ల మధ్య ‘టీ-50’ సొరంగం వస్తుంది. బారాముల్లా- శ్రీనగర్- సంగల్దాన్ మార్గంలో రెండు విద్యుత్ రైళ్లకూ జమ్మూ నుంచి వర్చువల్గా పచ్చజెండా ఊపారు.
కశ్మీర్ లోయలో ఎలక్ట్రిక్ రైళ్లను ప్రవేశపెట్టడం ఇదే తొలిసారి.టీ-50’ సొరంగం పొడవు 12.77 కి.మీ. బనిహాల్- సంగల్దాన్ సెక్షన్లోని 11 సొరంగాల్లో ఇదే అత్యంత సవాల్గా నిలిచిందని అధికారులు తెలిపారు.అత్యవసర పరిస్థితుల్లో ప్రయాణికులను సురక్షితంగా తరలించేందుకు ‘టీ-50’కి సమాంతరంగా ఒక ఎస్కేప్ టన్నెల్ నిర్మించారు. ప్రతీ 375 మీటర్ల దూరంలో ఈ రెండింటినీ కలుపుతూ మార్గాలు (క్రాస్ పాసేజ్) ఏర్పాటుచేశారు.యూఎస్బీఆర్ఎల్ ప్రాజెక్టును రూ.41 వేల కోట్లతో చేపట్టారు. మొత్తం పొడవు 272 కి.మీ.
