న్యూయార్క్ నగరంలో  ఎలుకలు పట్టే ఉద్యోగికి అక్షరాల రూ.1.2కోట్లు జీతం అంటే నమ్మగలరా..ఈ మధ్య న్యూయర్క్‌ నగర మేయర్‌ ఎరిక్‌ ఆడమ్స్‌ ‘ర్యాట్‌ క్యాచర్‌’ను నియమించారు. క్యాచర్స్‌కు వేతనం అక్షరాలా రూ.1.2కోట్లు ఇస్తుండడం విశేషం. ‘డైరెక్టర్‌ ఆఫ్‌ రోడెంట్‌ మిటిగేషన్‌’ పేరుతో ఎలుకలను నియంత్రించే ఉద్యోగానికి దరఖాస్తులను మేయర్‌ ఆహ్వానించారు. ఇప్పటి వరకు 900 మంది దరఖాస్తు చేసుకోగా ఇందులో కేథలిన్‌ కొరాడీని ఎంపిక చేశారు. ఓ స్కూల్‌లో ఆమె టీచర్‌గా పని చేస్తుంటారు.

విద్యాశాఖలో ఎలుకల నియంత్రణ.. వాటికి ఆహారం.. నీళ్లు అందకుండా చూడడం అంశాలపై రీసెర్చ్‌ చేశారు.ఈ ఉద్యోగంలో భాగంగా ఆమె ఇళ్లలో మిగిలిపోయే ఆహారం.. చెత్తను ఎలకలకు దొరకుండా డిస్పోస్‌ చేయడం, ఎలుకల సంతతి తగ్గేలా చర్యలు తీసుకోవడం, సబ్‌వేలలో ఎలుకలు ఆవాసాలు ఏర్పాటు చేసుకోకుండా చర్యలు తీసుకోవాల్సి ఉంటుంది.
