భారత రక్షణ రంగంలో మరో మిస్సైల్ చేరింది. దేశంలోనే మొట్టమొదటిసారిగా రైలు ఆధారిత మొబైల్ లాంచర్ నుంచి అగ్ని-ప్రైమ్ మధ్యంతర శ్రేణి క్షిపణిని రక్షణ రంగం విజయవంతంగా పరీక్షించింది. ఈ చారిత్రక ప్రయోగం విజయంతో.. ఇలాంటి అత్యాధునిక సామర్థ్యం కలిగిన కొన్ని దేశాల సరసన ఇండియా సగర్వంగా నిలిచింది. ఈ విషయాన్ని రక్షణ శాఖ మంత్రి రాజ్నాథ్ సింగ్ గురువారం అధికారికంగా ప్రకటించారు.

ఈ కొత్త తరం క్షిపణి దాదాపు 2,000 కిలోమీటర్ల దూరంలోని లక్ష్యాలను సైతం ఛేదించగలదని తెలిపారు. దీనిలో పలు అత్యాధునిక సాంకేతికతను పొందుపరిచారన్నారు. ప్రత్యేకంగా రూపొందించిన ఈ రైలు లాంచర్ వ్యవస్థ ద్వారా క్షిపణిని దేశంలోని రైల్వే నెట్వర్క్పై ఎక్కడికైనా అత్యంత వేగంగా తరలించవచ్చని రాజనాథ్ తెలిపారు. దీనివల్ల శత్రువుల నిఘాకు చిక్కకుండా, చాలా తక్కువ సమయంలో ప్రయోగానికి సిద్ధం చేసేందుకు వీలు కలుగుతుంది. దేశ రక్షణ సామర్థ్యాన్ని ఇది రెట్టింపు చేస్తుందని నిపుణులు పేర్కొంటున్నారు.ప్రధానమంత్రి నరేంద్ర మోదీ పిలుపునిచ్చిన 'ఆత్మనిర్భర్ భారత్' లక్ష్యంలో భాగంగా రక్షణ రంగంలో స్వావలంబన సాధించే దిశగా ఈ ప్రయోగం ఒక కీలక ముందడుగు అని రక్షణ మంత్రి అభివర్ణించారు.
