శ్రీలంక అధ్యక్షుడు గొటబయ రాజపక్స (Gotabya Rajapaksa) దేశం విడిచి పారిపోయారు. అధ్యక్షపదవికి రాజీనామా చేయాలని దేశవ్యాప్తంగా ప్రజలు పెద్దఎత్తున ఆందోళన చేస్తున్న నేపథ్యంలో గొటబాయ రాజపక్స కుటుంబంతో సహా బుధవారం వేకువజూమునే మాల్దీవులకు పారిపోయారు. ఇదిలా ఉంటే ఆయన పారిపోయేందుకు భారత్ సహకరించిందనే వదంతులు శరవేగంగా వ్యాపించాయి. దీనిపై శ్రీలంకలోని భారత హైకమిషన్ కార్యాలయం స్పందించింది. ఈ వార్తలు నిరాధారం, కల్పితమైనవని కొట్టి పారేసేంది. ప్రజాస్వామ్యయుతంగా తమ ఆకాంక్షలు నెరవేర్చుకునేందుకు ప్రయత్నిస్తున్న శ్రీలంక ప్రజలకు భారత్ సాయం కొనసాగుతుందని స్పష్టం చేసింది. ఈమేరకు ట్వీట్ చేసింది.
