Nairobi, December 7: ఆఫ్రికా దేశం బురిండీలో పెను విషాదం చోటుచేసుకుంది. ఓ జైలులో సంభవించిన అగ్ని ప్రమాదంలో (Burundi Prison Fire) 38 మంది ఖైదీలు సజీవ దహనమయ్యారు. రాజధాని గిటాగా జైలులో ఈ ఘటన జరిగింది. నిన్న ఉదయం జైలులో ఒక్కసారిగా మంటలు చెలరేగి ఖైదీలను చుట్టుముట్టాయి. తప్పించుకునే మార్గం లేక ఖైదీలు మంటలకు ఆహుతయ్యారు. మరో 60 మందికిపైగా తీవ్రంగా గాయపడ్డారు. వీరిలోనూ కొందరి పరిస్థితి విషమంగా ఉన్నట్టు తెలుస్తోంది. దీంతో మృతుల సంఖ్య పెరిగే అవకాశం ఉందని భావిస్తున్నారు. నిజానికి ప్రమాదం సంభవించిన ఈ జైలులో ఖైదీల సామర్థ్యం 400 కాగా, 1500 మందికిపైగా ఖైదీలను కుక్కేశారు. ఫలితంగా ప్రమాద తీవ్రత ఎక్కువగా ఉన్నట్టు అధికారులు తెలిపారు.
