అమెరికాలో ఫిలడెల్ఫియాలోని మూడు అంతస్తుల భవనంలో అగ్నిప్రమాదం (Philadelphia Building Fire) సంభవించింది. దీంతో ఏడుగురు పిల్లలతో సహా సుమారు 11 మంది మృతి చెందారు. ఈ మేరకు నగరంలోని పబ్లిక్ హౌసింగ్ అథారిటీకి చెందిన నగరంలోని ఫెయిర్మౌంట్ పరిసరాల్లోని మూడు-అంతస్తుల భవనంలోని రెండవ అంతస్తులో మంటలు చెలరేగాయి. మంటలను అదుపుచేయడానికి అగ్నిమాపక సిబ్బందికి సుమారు 50 నిమిషాల సమయం పట్టింది. అయితే భవనంలో నాలుగు స్మోక్ డిటెక్టర్లు ఉన్నప్పటికీ అవి విఫలమవ్వడంతోనే పిల్లలతో సహా 11 మంది (Eight children, four adults killed ) చెందారని ఫిలడెల్ఫియా ఫైర్ డిపార్ట్మెంట్ తెలిపింది.
ఈ క్రమంలో ఎనిమిది మంది రెండు ఎగ్జిట్ మార్గాల గుండా ప్రాణాలతో బయటపడగలిగారని, మరణించిన వారిలో ఏడుగురు చిన్నారులు కూడా ఉన్నారని ఫిలడెల్ఫియా డిప్యూటీ ఫైర్ కమిషనర్ క్రైగ్ మర్ఫీ వెల్లడించారు. ఇప్పటికి వరకు తాను చూసిన ప్రమాదాల్లో ఇదే అత్యంత భయంకరమైన అగ్ని ప్రమాదం అని మేయర్ జిమ్ కెన్నీ అన్నారు.
