పశ్చిమ ఆఫ్రికా దేశం లైబీరియాలోని టోటోటాలో వేగంగా వెళ్తున్న ఓ ప్రెటోల్ ట్యాంకర్ అదుపుతప్పి రోడ్డు పక్కన బోల్తా పడింది. దీంతో పెట్రోల్ ట్యాంక్ను గమనించిన స్థానికులు, క్షణాల్లో అక్కడికి పెద్ద సంఖ్యలో చేరుకుని ట్యాంకర్ నుంచి పెట్రోల్ను తీసుకునేందుకు స్థానికులు ఎగబడ్డారు. అయితే ఈ సమయంలో ట్యాంకర్లో పేలుడు సంభవించింది
పశ్చిమ ఆఫ్రికా దేశం లైబీరియాలోని టోటోటాలో వేగంగా వెళ్తున్న ఓ ప్రెటోల్ ట్యాంకర్ అదుపుతప్పి రోడ్డు పక్కన బోల్తా పడింది. దీంతో పెట్రోల్ ట్యాంక్ను గమనించిన స్థానికులు, క్షణాల్లో అక్కడికి పెద్ద సంఖ్యలో చేరుకుని ట్యాంకర్ నుంచి పెట్రోల్ను తీసుకునేందుకు స్థానికులు ఎగబడ్డారు. అయితే ఈ సమయంలో ట్యాంకర్లో పేలుడు సంభవించింది. దీంతో మంటల్లో చిక్కుకుని 40 మంది మృతి చెందారు. మరో 83 మంది తీవ్రంగా గాయపడ్డారు. సమాచారం అందుకున్న పోలీసులు ఘటనాస్థలికి చేరుకుని సహాయక చర్యలు చేపట్టారు. మంటలను అదుపు చేశారు. మృతదేహాలను స్వాధీనం చేసుకుని, క్షతగాత్రులను చికిత్స నిమిత్తం సమీప ఆస్పత్రులకు తరలించారు. క్షతగాత్రుల్లో చాలా మందికి తీవ్ర గాయాలయ్యాయని, మృతుల సంఖ్య పెరిగే అవకాశం ఉందని వైద్యులు తెలిపారు.
