భారత ప్రధాన మంత్రి నరేంద్ర మోదీ భద్రతను పర్యవేక్షించే ప్రత్యేక భద్రతా బృందం ఎస్పీజీ(special protection group) డైరెక్టర్ అరుణ్ కుమార్ సిన్హా కన్నుమూశారు. గత కొంతకాలంగా కాలేయ సంబంధిత వ్యాధితో బాధపడుతున్న ఆయన.. గురుగ్రామ్లోని ఓ ప్రైవేట్ ఆస్పత్రిలో చికిత్స పొందుతూ మృతి చెందినట్లు అధికారులు ప్రకటించారు.

భారత ప్రధాన మంత్రి నరేంద్ర మోదీ భద్రతను పర్యవేక్షించే ప్రత్యేక భద్రతా బృందం ఎస్పీజీ(special protection group) డైరెక్టర్ అరుణ్ కుమార్ సిన్హా కన్నుమూశారు. గత కొంతకాలంగా కాలేయ సంబంధిత వ్యాధితో బాధపడుతున్న ఆయన.. గురుగ్రామ్లోని ఓ ప్రైవేట్ ఆస్పత్రిలో చికిత్స పొందుతూ మృతి చెందినట్లు అధికారులు ప్రకటించారు.
2016 నుంచి SPG డైరెక్టర్గా కొనసాగుతున్నారు. ఈ ఏడాది మే 30వ తేదీన ఆయన పదవీ కాలం ముగియగా.. అంతకు ముందు రోజే ఆయన పదవీ కాలం పొడిగిస్తూ ఉత్తర్వులపై ప్రధాని మోదీ సంతకం చేశారు.అంతకు ముందు ఆ పొజిషన్ 15 నెలలు ఖాళీగా ఉంది.ఎస్పీజీ డైరెక్టర్ బాధ్యతల కంటే ముందు ఆయన.. కేరళ డీజీపీ(ప్రత్యేక సేవలు, ట్రాఫిక్) నిర్వర్తించారు. కేరళ క్యాడర్కు చెందిన అరుణ్ కుమార్ సిన్హా.. 1987 ఐపీఎస్ బ్యాచ్. ఆ రాష్ట్ర పోలీస్విభాగంలో పలు బాధ్యతలు కూడా నిర్వహించారాయన.
ప్రత్యేక భద్రతా బృందం ఎస్పీజీ.. 1984లో నాటి ప్రధాని ఇందిరాగాంధీ హత్య ఘటన తర్వాత ఏర్పాటైంది. 1985 నుంచి ఇది ప్రధానులకు, మాజీ ప్రధానులకు, వాళ్ల వాళ్లకు కుటుంబ సభ్యలకు భద్రత కల్పిస్తూ వస్తోంది. ప్రస్తుతం ప్రధాని, ఆయన కుటుంబ సభ్యుల రక్షణ బాధ్యతలను మాత్రమే చూసుకుంటోంది.

Arun Kumar Sinha, the Director of the Special Protection Group (SPG), passed away at a hospital in Gurugram. He was 61 and was unwell. Sinha was a 1987 batch Kerala cadre IPS Officer. He was recently given an extension in service.
