మేఘాలయ ముఖ్యమంత్రి కాన్రాడ్ సగ్మా మేఘాలయ గవర్నర్ ముందు తన సిఎం పదవికి రాజీనామా లేఖను సమర్పించి, కొత్త ప్రభుత్వాన్ని ఏర్పాటు చేయాలని కోరారు.
మేఘాలయ ముఖ్యమంత్రి కాన్రాడ్ సగ్మా మేఘాలయ గవర్నర్ ముందు తన సిఎం పదవికి రాజీనామా లేఖను సమర్పించి, కొత్త ప్రభుత్వాన్ని ఏర్పాటు చేయాలని కోరారు. మేఘాలయలో కొత్త ప్రభుత్వం కొలువు తీరనుంది. అయితే సీఎం కాన్రాడ్ సంగ్మా నేతృత్వంలోని నేషనల్ పీపుల్స్ పార్టీ 25 స్థానాల్లో గెలిచి అతిపెద్ద పార్టీగా అవతరించినప్పటికీ మ్యాజిక్ ఫిగర్ 31ని అందుకోలేకపోయింది. కాంగ్రెస్ ఐదు, బీజేపీ 4 సీట్లతో సరిపెట్టుకున్నాయి. ఇతరులు 25 స్థానాల్లో గెలుపొందారు. అయితే కాన్రాడ్తో కలిసి ప్రభుత్వాన్ని ఏర్పాటు చేసేందుకు తాము సిద్ధమని బీజేపీ ప్రకటించింది. ఒకవేళ ఈ రెండు పార్టీలు కలిస్తే మేఘాలయ ప్రభుత్వంలో కూడా బీజేపీ భాగం కానుంది
