Kenya Dam Bursts: కెన్యాలో భారీ వరదలకు డ్యామ్ కూలి 40 మంది మృతి, గ్రామాల్లోకి పోటెత్తిన నీటిలో కొట్టుకుపోయిన 42 మంది గ్రామవాసులు

ఆఫ్రికా దేశమైన కెన్యా (Kenya)లో ఓ డ్యామ్‌ కూలి (dam bursts) సుమారు 40 మందికిపైగా ప్రాణాలు కోల్పోయారు. ఈ మేరకు స్థానిక అధికారులు తాజాగా వెల్లడించారు.కెన్యాలో గత కొన్ని రోజులుగా భారీ వర్షాలు కురుస్తున్న సంగతి విదితమే. పశ్చిమ కెన్యాలోని రిఫ్ట్‌ వ్యాలీ (Rift Valley)లో గల కిజాబె డ్యామ్‌ నీటి ఉద్ధృతికి కొట్టుకుపోయింది. దీంతో ఆ నీరంతా దిగువ గ్రామాల్లోకి పోటెత్తడంతో సుమారు 42 మంది నీటి ప్రవాహానికి కొట్టుకుపోయి మరణించినట్లు నకురు కౌంటీ గవర్నర్‌ సుసాన్‌ కిహికా తెలిపారు.

నీటి ఉద్ధృతికి పలు ఇళ్లు, రోడ్లు కూడా కొట్టుకుపోయాయని, బుదరలో మరికొంత మంది చిక్కుకుపోయినట్లు చెప్పారు. మృతుల సంఖ్య మరింత పెరిగే అవకాశం ఉందని పేర్కొన్నారు. ఇక భారీ వర్షాలకు గత నెలలో సుమారు 100 మంది మరణించినట్లు స్థానిక మీడియా వెల్లడించింది.
