జమిలి ఎన్నికలపై కేంద్రం కీలక ప్రకటన వెలువరించింది. ఒకే దేశం-ఒకే ఎన్నిక అంశంపై కమిటీని నియమించింది. మాజీ రాష్ట్రపతి రామ్నాథ్ కోవింద్ నేతృత్వంలోని 16 మందితో కూడిన ఈ కమిటీ జమిలి ఎన్నికల సాధ్యాసాధ్యాలను పరిశీలించి రిపోర్టును సమర్పించనుంది. సెప్టెంబర్ 18 నుంచి 22 వరకు పార్లమెంట్ ప్రత్యేక సమావేశాలు నిర్వహించనున్నట్లు ప్రకటించిన వెంటనే కేంద్రం ఈ కమిటీని నియమించింది. వన్ నేషన్, వన్ ఎలక్షన్ ద్వారా లోక్సభ ఎన్నికలు, రాష్ట్రాల అసెంబ్లీలకు ఒకేసారి ఎన్నికలు నిర్వహించాలనే ఆలోచనలో కేంద్రం ఉన్నట్టు తెలుస్తోంది.
