Newdelhi, June 22: ఆసియాలో (Asia) పెద్ద నదుల్లో ఒకటైన గంగానదికి (River Ganges) సంబంధించి ఓ ఆసక్తికర విషయం వెలుగులోకి వచ్చింది. 2500 ఏండ్ల క్రితం సంభవించిన ఒక భూకంపం వల్ల గంగానది ప్రవాహ దిశను మార్చుకున్నదని ఈ అధ్యయనంలో తేలింది. సాధారణంగా నదులు క్రమంగా దిశ మార్చుకునేందుకు వందల ఏండ్లు పడుతుంది. గంగానది లాంటి పెద్ద నది దిశ మార్చుకోవడం దాదాపు జరగదని పరిశోధకులు ఇప్పటివరకూ భావించారు. అయితే, ఒక భారీ భూకంపం కారణంగా గంగానది ఒకేసారి దిశ మార్చుకుందని వెల్లడించారు. రిక్టర్ స్కేలుపై 7 – 8 తీవ్రతతో సంభవించిన భూకంపం వల్ల ఈ మార్పు చోటు చేసుకొని ఉండొచ్చని అభిప్రాయపడ్డారు.
