సూడాన్‌లో పశ్చిమ కోర్డోఫాన్‌ ప్రావిన్స్‌లో బంగారు గని కూలిపోవడంతో (Gold Mine Collapse) 38 మంది మరణించారు. ప్రమాదంలో మరో 8 మంది వరకు గాయపడ్డారని, వారికి ఆస్పత్రిలో చికిత్స అందిస్తున్నట్లు సూడాన్ ప్రభుత్వ మినరల్ రిసోర్సెస్ కంపెనీ తెలిపింది. సూడాన్‌ రాజధాని ఖార్టూమ్‌కు 700 కిలోమీటర్ల దూరంలో ఉన్న పుజా గ్రామంలో ఈ ఘటన జరిగింది. అయితే ఈ గనిని గత కొంతకాలం క్రితమే ప్రభుత్వం మూసివేసింది. సూడాన్‌ ప్రభుత్వం గనుల్లో ఎలాంటి రక్షణ చర్యలు చేపట్టకపోవడమే వరుస ప్రమాదాలకు కారణంగా తెలుస్తోంది. ఇదిలా ఉండగా, సూడాన్‌ దేశం 2020లో సుమారు 36.6 టన్నుల బంగారాన్ని వెలికితీసింది.
